Therapeutic Approaches
- Therapy is a collaborative process and guided by science and it is understood that your support network is important, and with your consent we can also work with your family or partner.
- A session with a partner can help them to understand your workplace or how your history and background (your story) impacts you now, as often partners/s are the "First Responders at Home".
Welcome Diversity
Diversity is welcome: cultural backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ communities and varied family structures: Stuart, Phil, Christos and Susie have a wealth of life experience working and growing up in Australia from Ango Saxon, Chinese, Lebanese and Greek backgrounds. As a collective, we can help each other to understand cultures that are no our own.

Telehealth or in-Clinic
Telehealth in Australia has revolutionised psychological services by offering convenient access to mental health professionals through video calls and phone consultations. The increased convenience and accessibility potentially enable more people to receive support, and research evidence suggests that Telehealth is an effective form of mental health care (Snoswell, C. et.al.,2023).

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few things people often want to know before reaching out.

No. You can see us or most psychologists without a referral and pay the standard fee.
To access Medicare rebates, you'll need a GP Mental Health Care Plan and GP referral
What does a session cost?
$290 per 50-60 minute session. With a Mental Health Care Plan, Medicare rebates of $145.25 (Clinical Psychologist) or $98.95 (General Psychologist) apply.
Where are you located?
We consult in Petersham, Newtown (RPA Medical Centre) and the Sydney CBD, and nationally, via secure telehealth.
Do you work with first responders?
Yes. Stuart's focus is on First Responders
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, secure telehealth sessions are available across Australia, with the same care and confidentiality as in person.
Do I have to book in for 6 sessions as per my Mental Health Care Plan?
In your first session, you and your psychologist work out what is best for you. You may only need one session, or you may want follow-up sessions, depending on what you, your GP and your psychologist plan.
Family Law - Can you write a report about my parenting or mental health
No - The Treating Psychologist's job is to help their client with distress, thinking differently, or develop skills. They are part of the person's support system, not assessors. If this is what you need please be sure to inform us when you enquire. If you ask, we can reccommend psychologists that do these assessment.
I am an applicant for the Police Force, and I have been asked to get an Independent Psychological Report. Can you do that?
This usually requires a Clinical Psychologist with experience in the Police or Military. If you need an assessment, contact us here to discuss suitability.
As these reports are not therapy, the fee cannot usually be claimed back by Medicare. You do not need a Mental Health Care Plan.
Can I refer my partner? She is a police officer and feels uneasy about making the call to book in?
Partners and friends commonly refer others to us. However, we will need to speak to the person who is seeking help as part of the intake process.
